The Head
In an isolated and inaccessible Antarctic research station in which winter has fallen on the South Pole and the sun will soon disappear for the next six months, a small team, known as the Winterers, remain at the Polaris VI Antarctic Research Station to continue their innovative research. Renowned biologist Arthur Wilde is determined to find a solution to climate change, but his quest turns into a nightmare when several of his esteemed scientists suddenly begin to die. ตัวเรื่องหลักเกิดขึ้นในช่วงเวลามืดมิด 179 วัน หรือ 6 เดือนที่ทวีปแอนตาร์กติกา (ขั้วโลกใต้) จะไม่มีแสงอาทิตย์ส่องลงมา ทีมนักวิทยาศาสตร์ที่มาผลัดเปลี่ยนที่ฐาน Polaris VI กลับต้องพบทีมงานผลัดก่อนตายสยองเกือบยกทีม และมีผู้สูญหายไปอีก 3 คน ซึ่งนี่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการสืบสวนหาความจริงที่เกิดขึ้น ผ่านคำบอกเล่าของตัวละครผู้พบว่ารอดชีวิตในภายหลัง ร่วมกับการปะติดปะต่อหลักฐานที่หลงเหลืออยู่เข้าด้วยกัน ตัวเรื่องจึงเป็นการเล่าย้อนกลับแฟลชแบ็คสลับกับปัจจุบันไปมาจนจบเรื่อง
